Overview
When Sancta Clara Monastery reached out for help, they believed they were dealing with a small WiFi issue. In reality, their entire network had been failing for a long time. The internet would cut in and out throughout the day, devices would disconnect without warning, and entire areas of the monastery had no usable WiFi signal at all. For a community that depends on communication, administration, and online ministry tools, this problem was becoming a daily burden.
During our visit, we discovered the monastery was relying on a mixture of nine Google Mesh and Google Hub WiFi devices. These devices work well in small homes but are not designed to cover a large, multi level building with thick plaster walls and long hallways.
The sisters were not just dealing with slow internet. They were dealing with technology that could not support their mission.
Cyber Shift Technologies made the decision to step in and upgrade their entire network at no cost to them. The goal was simple. Give them technology that finally serves their needs with the same reliability and strength they bring to the community.
Client Background
Sancta Clara Monastery has served the Canton community for decades. Their building was constructed long before modern networking standards existed. Over time, the technology inside it had become a patchwork of outdated wiring, consumer WiFi devices, and equipment placed out of necessity rather than design.
Their environment previously included:
- Nine mixed Google Mesh and Google Hub devices
- Outdated cables
- Unmanaged hardware
- Frequent and unpredictable WiFi outages
- Rooms and hallways where internet simply did not exist
- No centralized way to monitor or control anything
The sisters were experiencing frustration every single day.
The Challenge
What They Were Facing
- WiFi and internet cutting out constantly
- Devices falling offline without warning
- Conflicting mesh units fighting for bandwidth
- Weak wireless backhaul that could not handle the building layout
- Entire sections with no signal
They did not need a temporary fix.
They needed a stable, well designed network that would support their work for years.
Infrastructure Limitations
- Old cabling not designed for modern speeds
- Consumer mesh hardware stretched far beyond its intended use
- Unpredictable performance throughout the building
- No centralized way to troubleshoot or manage issues
Our Solution
Cyber Shift Technologies provided a complete network transformation designed to deliver reliability, performance, and long term stability.
1. Removed All Nine Google Mesh Units
The consumer mesh system was fully retired and replaced with equipment built for large facilities.
2. Installed a Modern Router and Secure Network Backbone
A business class routing platform now provides consistent, protected, and reliable connectivity.
3. Ran More Than 1,000 Feet of New CAT6 Cabling
Fresh, structured cabling provided strong wired backhaul connections for every access point.
4. Deployed Nine Ceiling Mounted Access Points
Each AP was positioned to cover the whole building and support smooth roaming between rooms.
Every dead zone was removed.
5. Rebuilt and Organized the Network Cabinet
Old equipment was removed, cables were labeled, and the entire space was cleaned and structured for easy maintenance.
The Results
Reliable WiFi in Every Area
No more dropped signals and no more offline rooms.
Simply stable, dependable internet throughout the building.
Better Performance and Security
Faster speeds, consistent uptime, and improved protections for every device.
Centralized Management
Cyber Shift can now monitor and support the monastery proactively, which means issues can be resolved quickly and often before they are noticed.
Technology That Supports Their Mission
The sisters are now able to focus entirely on their work, prayer, and community outreach without being hindered by technical problems.
