Business Door Access Control

Door access control for the right people, doors and times.

Lost keys and changing staff should not leave you guessing who can enter. Build a clearer plan for access, door schedules and everyday administration.

Business door access control manages entry using credentials and permissions instead of relying only on shared physical keys. Cyber Shift Technologies helps businesses discuss access hardware alongside their network and security needs. A useful project starts with the doors, the people who use them and the installation responsibilities that need to be agreed.

The Business Problem

Access should keep up with your business.

Start with the situations you need the system to handle.

Keys outlive the people who need them

A key is copied, a staff member leaves or a contractor finishes a job. A defined process for granting and removing access helps you keep up with those changes.

Every door follows the same rules

An office entrance, stockroom and staff-only area may need different permissions. Plan who needs access to each space and when the building should be open.

Nobody owns the access changes

New starters, lost credentials and temporary access all need an administrator. Choose who can make changes and how requests are approved before a system is handed over.

People, Doors and Permissions

Start with how your workplace actually operates.

The right scope depends on the doors, hardware and access options selected.

Doors and existing hardware

Identify the openings you want to manage, how each is used and what hardware is already installed. Door condition, locks, readers, power and cabling need to be considered together. Confirm responsibilities for physical door work before installation.

Credentials and access schedules

Discuss the credential options your selected platform supports, with permissions based on roles and locations. Plan normal business hours, restricted areas and temporary access. Available options depend on the selected platform and equipment.

Changes, records and administration

Define how a person is added, a lost credential is disabled and access is removed when someone leaves. Consider which entry events need to be reviewed, who can see those records and how long they should be retained.

Network, power and project coordination

Review connectivity and the behavior needed during internet or power interruptions. Agree how door hardware, building requirements, specialist trades and system configuration will be coordinated. Test the agreed operation with the people who will manage it.

Access control starts at the door itself.

The door, frame and locking hardware need to work together. A walkthrough helps us identify the right fit and coordinate safe exit requirements before installation.

Plan the Everyday Moments

Make access changes part of a clear routine.

Use these situations to define requirements before comparing platforms.

Someone joins or changes roles

Set the approved doors and schedule for the role, name the approver and explain how access will change if the person moves to another team.

A credential is lost or access ends

Define who receives the request, who can disable the credential and how any remaining physical keys or shared credentials will be handled.

The building operates differently

Discuss after-hours work, visitors, temporary contractors and closures. Plan each exception so everyday access rules stay understandable.

Before Installation

A door is more than a reader and an app.

Confirm the whole opening and the people responsible for each part of the work.

Existing locks, exit hardware, emergency operation and power-loss behavior affect the design. Confirm applicable building requirements with the appropriate professionals and authorities. We supply the door access hardware and install it, sometimes working with an installation partner. Specific platforms and delivery responsibilities are agreed before the project proceeds.

Your Local Team

Work through the plan with a local team.

North Canton is home. Your building is where the plan starts.

From our North Canton base, Cyber Shift Technologies brings the network and security conversation together for Northeast Ohio businesses. Tell us where the building is, which doors are involved and what you want to change.

We will discuss the requirements and define the proposed scope, including any door hardware or specialist work that needs coordination. Supported platforms, credentials and integrations must be confirmed for your project.

Before You Start

Business Door Access Control: your questions answered.

Practical answers before you choose your next step.

Can access control work with our existing doors?

Sometimes, but the door and hardware need to be assessed together. The frame, lock, exit hardware, power and cable routes can affect the options. Bring photos or a door schedule to the conversation. Confirm any hardware changes and the responsible installer in the project scope before choosing readers or credentials.

Can we use key cards, fobs or mobile credentials?

Different systems support different credential types, and mobile access may depend on particular readers, applications or licensing. Start with how employees and visitors enter the building and how credentials will be issued or replaced. Cyber Shift can discuss your requirements; supported options and platform suitability need confirmation for the proposed system.

What happens if the power or internet goes out?

Behavior depends on the controller, locking hardware, local configuration and backup power. An internet outage and a power outage are different conditions. Include both in the design conversation, confirm emergency operation with the appropriate professionals, and test the agreed behavior. Do not assume that every door stays locked or unlocks automatically.

Can door access events be connected to cameras?

Some platforms can associate door events with video, helping authorized staff review relevant activity. This depends on compatible hardware, software, licensing and configuration. Describe what your staff need to investigate so the proposed scope can address it. Camera integration does not provide live monitoring, alarm dispatch or emergency response.
